This Week in Photos: September 30, 2011

A quiet week, here in Lake Woebegon Oakland….but I’ve pulled a quartet of images for your viewing pleasure.

Happy Friday; I’m about to settle back with some Porcini Ravioli (made with Thyme-enfused pasta) and a nice glass of Red!

Not a whole lot this week, but here it is, (such as it is…). Craftsman, Arts & Crafts, and a super-cool little bungalow that persistently reminded me of a yacht, for it’s compact, efficient space.

I’m wrapping up the week with dinner at Pican.

This Week in Photos: On Vacation

This Week In Photos is taking a well-deserved break, hiking in the Sierras (Kuna Crest, for those of you familiar with the Tioga Pass area). It’ll return next week!

Ronda, Spain Workshop Update

For those who are already enrolled, and for those on the bubble — here’s a bit more info regarding our venue for the Spain Workshop in November.

We’ll be shooting the utterly charming estate shown above – all 250 hectares of it – so bring your “A” game because the portfolio opportunities abound! You can see more of the property (apparently shot by a local RE photographer – anyone want to claim these?) HERE. This is a way better website than what I had previously for this place.

You can either fly your helicopter in (land on the estate’s private helipad) or caravan in from Ronda, which is 10 – 15 minutes away. I’ve got a couple of hotel recommendations for Ronda, which I can email out to anyone interested.

The property manager is extremely excited to have us, and the place will be groomed, cleaned, and in pristine condition for us. This workshop will be epic! You can register HERE, and don’t hesitate to email me with questions.

Master Suite by McCutcheon

Several weeks ago I returned to the address of this project to shoot the newly completed Master Suite, upstairs. I had seen this while it was still under construction, and even visited the site once or twice to take “before” and “in-progress” photos. Here’s what the bath, pictured above, looked like back in May:

It was a full week of shooting, and lots of lighting fun every day. Here’s a nice collection for your weekend enjoyment! Me, I’m off to Puyallup(!) and Friday Harbor for the weekend.

Calgary Stampede

Drum roll, please……….. The Camera Store has got the online registration up and running for my Calgary Workshop Series — HERE’S THE LINK.

Astute readers will notice that there are 2 different events listed: a Basics class, and an Advanced class.  “Advanced?” you ask? “Yes,” I reply.

Oakland Magazine

A few months ago I shot a beautiful Arts and Crafts remodel on the island of Alameda, in the San Francisco Bay. (You can read about that one HERE, and HERE.) These are also being entered in the 2011 Remmies, so we’ve got our fingers crossed here at Scott Hargis Photo World Headquarters.

This month those photos were published in Oakland Magazine, in an article featuring my client: Custom Kitchens by John Wilkins. I recently shot some more of Custom Kitchens’ work, and Jerry tells me that they’ve got an utterly amazing project coming up before the end of the year…..I can’t wait!

Congrats, Wilkins!

Ronda Workshop is LIVE!!

It took a little bit of doing, but I’ve finally got registration for Ronda up and running. You can officially sign up on my Facebook page, HERE.

This workshop is going to be fun, fun, fun. Our destination is Ronda, Spain, an absolutely charming village in the Andalusian hills  north of Marbella. For those flying in, book a ticket to Malaga, and plan on driving a couple hours to get to Ronda (unless you’re taking directions from my friend Alex, in which case you should plan extra time, and bring supplies.)

Ronda has plenty of amenities, and I’ll try to come up with a hotel recommendation in the next few weeks. Our workshop location is the spectacular estate pictured above. It’s about a 10-minute drive from Ronda, and as you can see, it offers plenty of photographic possibilities! This is certainly the largest venue I’ve ever taught in, bigger even than the 750 square meter behemoth we used in Vancouver last winter!

I’m still getting some details about this place, so I’ll plan for yet another post when I’ve got the scoop, but for now, here’s the facts:

WHEN

Saturday, November 26th, 2011, all day long.

WHERE

Ronda, Spain. Likely we will find a good meeting place in the village, and carpool or caravan out to the estate from there.

WHAT

A long, full day of Interiors/Architectural photography! Bring your stuff – you’ll be shooting and I’ll be demonstrating.

WHO

Ten hard-core interiors photographers. Is that you?

You can search this blog for “workshop” and find plenty of articles describing what we’ll be doing, and people’s reactions to it. Shoot me an email if you’ve got questions….and I hope you can make it!

This Week in Photos: September 2nd, 2011

So much for August Break — which never really materialized anyway — phones are ringing again around here!

Here’s a nice sampling from the week’s work – with some “before” photos thrown in for good measure. Hit the “jump” to see the un-lit version of the lead photo, above!

And, welcome to September, everyone. I’m bringing it in with a nice bottle of Red Seal.

Lighting Workshop Update

Things are pretty much in place for all three of the upcoming workshops, now.  Registration for Phoenix is open HERE. The Saturday, November 12th session is nearly sold out, but the Sunday session still has plenty of room.

The Ronda, Spain workshop now has a date! Mark your calendar for Saturday, November 26th! I’m still working on getting registration up and running for that one, but if you’re interested, shoot me an email and I’ll pencil you in, and I’ll make sure you know immediately when the PayPal link is operational.

And Calgary….remember that there are two different workshops in place for this long weekend: a “basic” one-day workshop, and an “Advanced” two-day workshop. The “advanced” one is The One some of you have been waiting for. I’m really stoked about it, we’ll be going way past basic lighting and exposure, and getting into the real art of interiors. And exteriors. And twilights, post-production, portfolios….you name it. Don’t come unless you’ve got plenty of stamina, because I’m going to pack these two days with a LOT of stuff. The Camera Store hasn’t gotten this on their Events Calendar yet, but I assure you that it’s on for November 18th (beginner), 19th & 20th (Advanced). Registration will be through their site. I’ll put something here when they make it live, but it wouldn’t hurt to give them a call and ask to be placed on a list.
