Twilights with Custom Kitchens

Last winter I shot the interiors of this whole-house remodel for Custom Kitchens by John Wilkins (Arts & Crafts Happiness, November 2010) . More Photos and write-up after the jump

Location Scouting with SunSeeker

I use this app almost daily. In the example above, for instance, I was able to ascertain the path of the sun across the actual location I’ll be shooting in 2 weeks — even though it was heavy overcast during the scout. Invaluable when you’re lining up resources and plunking down hard cash prior to a shoot! I wanna know, not guess, that the sun will be where I want it at a given time!

Coastal Living by Bleu Leman Design

A few weeks ago, I had the chance to work with Diane Leifer (Bleu Leman Design) on her latest project in Oakland. This could have been somewhere on the Eastern Seaboard — the muted colors and textures were very reminiscent of the beach, or so it seemed to me. Diane used seashells and marine motifs along with classic farmhouse accessories to make a very charming space, and still kept it warm and inviting. More photos after the jump!

Scott Hargis Lighting Interiors eBook

Enough.

I think this thread has outlived it’s usefulness! If you’re arriving late to the party, this was originally a bit of a rant on my part because search terms kept popping up that were clearly intended to find a way to steal my book (torrent, fileripper, pirated, etc.)

I asked people to explain why they would steal something that costs less than $50, and incredibly, a number of people showed up and gave their reasons why they steal. And even more folks showed up and left testimonials about why the book was worth the money to them. I really appreciated that!

And, a bunch of people just used it as a way to be righteously indignant over nothing at all. They stumbled on the blog post while searching for a legitimate way to buy the book (HERE, fyi) and decided that I was accusing them of stealing. (Apparently reading past the second sentence was too much trouble).

So: If you’re searching for my eBook, it’s HERE. I think you’re gonna like it. You might also like my VIDEO SERIES.

Thanks….and, Happy lighting!

Old, Before New

In February I was called by McGrath Properties to shoot the historic PG&E Building in downtown Oakland. Built in 1927, it’s being re-vitalized as commercial condos. Whoever gets the 8th floor mezzanine will have, in my opinion, the coolest workspace in Oakland.

I worked with longtime associate Patti Chandler for one long day, and then returned the next evening to capture twilights.
